(hd) On Monday (24.02.2024), a serious traffic accident occurred in Löhne in which one person died. A 65-year-old man was driving his Volvo on Oeynhausener Straße in Löhne, coming from Bad Oeynhausen in the direction of the town center. While crossing a bridge over the B611, the driver touched the crash barriers on the side of the road several times. Finally, the Volvo crashed into a street lamp. The person involved in the accident was not conscious at the time. As the traffic accident occurred directly in front of the Löhne police station, several police officers immediately provided first aid. Nevertheless, the 65-year-old died at the scene of the accident. The traffic accident was investigated by a specially equipped and qualified traffic accident investigation team. Oeynhausener Straße had to be completely closed for around three hours. The extent to which a possible medical emergency contributed to the accident and the tragic consequences will have to be examined in the further course of the investigation. The damage to property is estimated to be at least 17,000 euros.
