(jd) An attentive witness was in his car on Bünder Straße yesterday (March 31) when a Mercedes turned onto Bünder Straße coming from Sandbrink Straße at around 1.55 pm. The Mercedes driver was clearly unsafe to drive, so the witness informed the police: driving towards Herford, the Mercedes crossed into the oncoming lane several times. Oncoming road users had to brake their vehicles accordingly to avoid a collision. As the journey continued, the previously unknown driver drove in serpentine lines and, among other things, touched the kerb of a sidewalk. The police officers called to the scene came across the Mercedes at a petrol station. The driver, a 28-year-old from Löhn, showed clear signs of narcotics consumption. A test carried out confirmed this assumption. The Löhner was taken to the Herford police station to have a blood sample taken, where his driving license was confiscated. The officers prohibited him from driving vehicles requiring a driving license.
