(um) On Saturday (08.02.), at around 11:15 a.m., a curious traffic accident occurred on Rennstraße in the city center. A 69-year-old man was driving a car on Rennstraße and was coming from Ahmser Straße. He had to slow down the Mondeo car at the level of the racing gate wall due to traffic. At this moment, a cyclist crashed into the rear of the car. The impact was so powerful that the cyclist protruded through the windshield into the passenger compartment of the car. After the man got to his feet and pulled his head and arm out of the rear of the car, he got on his bike and rode off quickly. A witness to the accident is said to have spoken to the cyclist, but he did not react. The car driver from Herford then drove to the police station and filed a complaint. The traffic commissioner's office is now investigating the fleeing cyclist, who left the scene of the accident without permission and did not bother to settle the claim. The police are particularly asking the witness to the traffic accident, who was wearing a yellow high-visibility vest, to contact the police. The damage amounts to around 3,000 euros. Information on the crime is requested from the traffic police in Herford on 05221-8880.
