(jd) An attentive witness called the police yesterday (December 1) at around 8.55 p.m. after noticing a damaged VW on Schwarzenmoorstraße. The driver of the vehicle, a 55-year-old man from Spenge, told the officers who arrived that he had been driving from Ortsieker Weg in the direction of Auf dem Dudel when he veered off the road to the left. There, the VW collided with a wall. The man was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment of his minor injuries. As the officers detected signs of alcohol consumption in the man, blood samples were taken at the hospital. The officers also confiscated the 55-year-old's driving license and banned him from driving vehicles requiring a license. The damage to the wall and vehicle amounts to around 6000 euros.
